Who we are
Who we are
We are an Australian not for profit small group tour company.
Our tours are created through partnerships with local social enterprises from around the world.
The profits from the tours go to supporting the inspiring work of these organizations.
As a traveller with Atma, you get to meet these incredible people and see firsthand what improvements are being made to change lives in the community you visit.
Atma Cycles is a not for profit bicycle brand which sells bicycles in independent Australian bike shops. The money from the sale of those bikes funds the giving of bicycles to schoolgirls in rural Maharashtra, so they can get the education they deserve.
After our first successful trip in June 2015 where we gave away 100 bicycles, we made the decision to launch Atma - Immersive Journeys to continue to grow this project.
Our next trip is in September 2018. We're heading back to Maharashtra where travellers will be able to fully immerse themselves in the culture of India, meet our inspiring partners, and see the changes we're making together.
Dhanashree is from Tupewadi, a small village located near Mhaswad. She lives with her parents and two siblings. Her father is a painter and her mother is a labourer, and her family’s financial condition is not so good.
Dhanashree is in High School and recently sat her year 8 exam. Her school is 3.5km away from her house, and as it takes almost an hour to walk there, she was often late.
Dhanashree is a very hardworking and intelligent girl, and her education is important to her. Now, with her bicycle, she can get to school in under 20 minutes!
“Now I can save time and use that time for my studies and hobbies. I take good care of my cycle, and I will cycle until year 10.” - Dhanashree
Atma is entirely run by passionate volunteers who believe in creating a positive impact. We have no religious affiliations and come from all over the world to use our experience and expertise to help others. If you would like to join us please get in touch.
