About us

Atma - Immersive Journeys is an Australian not for profit small group tour company.

Our tours are created in partnership between Atma and local social enterprises from around the world.

We partner with existing social enterprises so that all the profit from the tours goes to support the inspiring work they are already doing.

One such is the work Mann Deshi Foundation does in rural Maharashtra in Western India - educating and training local women to become entrepreneurs, building dams to make the area more drought resistant and providing financial services and education for the local women.

This also means that our travellers get to meet these inspiring people and see the incredible work they are doing to improve the lives of the community they serve.

Our Guiding Value

Only run a tour if it can have a positive impact on the community it visits and the environment as a whole.

Where we came from

Atma Cycles is a not for profit bicycle brand which has been selling bicycles in independent Australian bike shops. We do this in order to fund giving bicycles to girls in rural Maharahstra so that they can get the education they deserve.

After our first successful trip in June 2015 where we gave away 100 bicycles, we made the decision to launch Atma - Immersive Journeys to continue and grow this work.

Our next trip is in October 2017 where we will again be giving bicycles to schoolgirls and taking people along for the journey.

What impact have we had

Dhanashree is from Tupewadi, a small village located near Mhaswad. She lives with her parents and two siblings. Her father is a painter and her mother is a labourer. Her family’s financial condition is not so good.

Dhanashree is in High School and recently sat her year 8 exam. It is 3.5km rom her house to her school. It takes almost an hour to walk there because of this she always used to be late.

Dhanashree is very hardworking and is an intelligent girl, now she has her bicycle she can now get to school in under 20 minutes.

Dhanashree said “Now I can save time and use that time for my studies and hobbies. I take good care of my cycle. And I will cycle until year 10.”

Who we are

Atma is entirely run by passionate volunteers who believe in creating a positive impact. We have no religious affiliations and come from all over the world to use our experience and expertise to help others. If you would like to join us please get in touch.
